On National Highway NH 47 between Bangalore and Mangalore, 55 km from Hassan nestled amidst mountains and verdant nature is a quaint town known for its estates and plantations - Chikmagalur. And on one of this town’s most beautiful coffee estates, is set The Serai Chikmagalur!

The Serai Chikmagalur is designed as if emanating from, and aligned to, a central flowing water spine, which unifies the resort. While natural scenery has been integrated with minimalist design to give it an open feel, the edifice itself an exquisite collage of strong, bold axial lines, a variety of material and textures, picturesque views, connecting walkways and harmonious lighting.

A central edifice houses the lobby, restaurants, lounges bars and the spa, and towers over an elegant infinity pool. The cottages, themselves, flank the central flowing water spine.

Material indigenous to the plantation has been extensively used to fashion the interiors. Whilst, the elegant shades and pendants are of a special paper made of pressed seeds and leaves, the highlight is the natural rosewood floor, crafted out of a 105 dead or fallen trees, collected and processed over a twenty-year period

Banana fibre sourced locally and lovingly woven by destitute women has been used in the lobby ceiling.

The piece de resistance is a fabulous mural, reflecting the resort’s alignment and synergy with nature.
